What I Learned Tonight

Some people will always finish last, no matter how hard they study or work. Some people will never get the breaks they are looking for. They just keep waiting and looking for that opportunity that never passes by, or it passes over them.

More on this subject at another time.

  1. What about the power of positive thinking. I dare you to try it for a while. Being miserable and unhappy about everything doesn't often get you anywhere. If you smile at someone (even if you don't feel like smiling) and they smile back at you, don't you feel better? Positive thinking has the similar effect. Start to notice the nice things in your life. Be happy you have money. Be happy you have a roof over your head. Be happy you can put food on the table. You've set yourself up for some success as you went to school and got an education, but an education won't always get you happiness. Your bad vibes shine off you all the time. Try to take the good out of life or work. You've been out of school for about a year. It can take YEARS to get to where you want to be. Struggle is part of life and is what builds character. You will get to where you want to be, but you may need to alter plans slightly to get there. Think about everything as a gift of experience. Without it you have nothing. But if you stay miserable and keep this sense of entitlement you will get passed over for jobs and promotions. Anyone with any ounce of perception can pick these attitudes up off of people. You may have worked hard all your life, but working mediocre jobs will not grant you the best job ever once you've grabbed on to your magic Arts degree. Think positive. Surround yourself with positive. Look at the good in your life. Don't wait for it to come to you... go grab it.

  2. Funny, not more than 3 months ago I was just thinking the same thing. That nothing ever works out for me. The last 2 months have been a wild, unexpected ride of good stuff happening to me. Sometimes we just have to wait a little longer.

I know it's discouraging and I won't go into the old cliches here but we're still young. It can still happen.

  3. I agree, the power of positive thinking is an asset. Unfortunately, it has always been something I have a hard time mastering. Negativity runs in my family and it is super hard to shake it. Commenter #1- thanks for taking time to read and comment thoughtfully. I appreciate your feedback. Don't worry, interesting changes are coming and decisions have been made.

JTS- glad to her your move went well.
